Bite Sized Burlesque with Peaches and Gin +HennaNights

so I haven't blogged in a while haven't had time, with School and doing shoots with a few models so this is one of a couple of blogs that I'll be putting up.

I started this a while back but never got to finish it.

'Had a 'Great' night last night at the Henna Nights show featuring the lovely Peaches & Gin Girls, who had individual acts as well as closing the show. most of the night I was up the back but moved up the front later.

The show was Adults Only and featured both belly dancing and a few burlesque routines from 'Luna Eclipse', 'Sapphire Snow' and 'Phoenix Murda'.

My favourite was 'Tea for Two', the act opens with a table full of tea cups, and a seat next to it, 'Sapphire Snow' selects a male from the audience to sit in the seat next to the tea cup table.
loosens her apron and gives one end to the audience member, while she does a little shimmy and off the apron comes ...

I was at the back so I can only tell you what i saw through the gaps between peoples heads. I remember Shimmies and Dancing.

I also attended Peaches & Gins Bite sized Burlesque show the following friday, which was at the elegant and cozy Cushdy on hindley.

I will also be attending the Flight of the Phoenix performance which will be 'Phoenix Murda's last show with 'Peaches and Gin' so I'll be sure to take some photos to post up.

Boy do I have a lot to post! Burlesque, shoots, school...

Well I have been busy busy lately, I have done Three shoots with my sister and have to plan a couple for in the next four weeks. one in my studio and a location shoot, both with new models.

Christmas in Adelaide

Wow its almost Christmas Scary how fast the year has gone. last night I went into the City with my friend Kirrie.

we took our Cameras and Tripods and took some shots of the big Christmas tree with the Victoria Square fountain. came out quite good I think, could probably be better though.

I always feel like there is more that I could have accomplished in a year than I actually have.

What I accomplished this year:
  • Completed a Full Year Photography course.
  • Brought a Studio Light.
  • Brought a Studio Backdrop.
  • Expanded my Camera Collection.
  • Gone on many Photographic Adventures with Kirrie.
  • Got an ABN number and set myself up as really small business.
  • Done 2 photo restorations and got payed for it.
My New Years Resolutions:
  • Learn to save money better.(coz right now I am pretty crap at it)
  • Get in to Media Arts course.
  • Read more. (I have a substantial book collection of which only read well not even half really)
  • Do more Art stuff.
  • Do more Client Photo shoots. (need to actually get some first.)
  • Make a website portfolio and stick with it. (I have a habit of starting to design one but never finish)
  • get Business cards printed.
  • Go Antique shopping.
  • ...
What are your New year Resolutions?

Flapper Photoshoot

My sister brough this awsome dress that looks like a 1920's flapper dress, so we decided to do a photoshoot. which I think turned out ok, I love vintage dress the 20's through to the 50's are my favourite eras of fashion.

I am constantly inspired by fashion and things from the past, for my 21st I wore a dress that look like it was right out of the 1920's and I have a short bob type hair cut, i put my out fit together not even realizing the outcome. maybe later I'll upload some of the photos from that and the photo shoot I did with Kirrie.

she has a black dress with patterned stockings and a piece of ribbon tied around her head.

There are some great make up tutorials on YouTube This is the one that Sami used to do her makeup

You can find more great tutorials at: Ask Me Makeup.com

list of future shoot:
  • Marie Antoinette
  • Vintage Circus
  • Pirate
  • Vampire
  • Pin up
  • classic Hollywood

In October I turned 21 and my Major present was a Mamiya 645 Medium Format camera. but I also got a fair bit of money, enough to buy myself a Manfrotto tripod and a Black Background and Stand. I had previously brought a Studio light, so now i have my own small studio set up:

I know its a crap photo but I took it on a whim.
anyway heres a recent and the first photo shoot i did using my black background:

The model is my younger sister, you can see more shoots with her on my flicker Photostream

soon there will be some more themed photo shoots on the books: like Pirates and Flappers, as well as a Marie Antoinette one possibly featuring myself.
